Rebecca Wilkowski Photography will make the process of actually learning what those dials on your camera do, and how to capture memorable shots, fun, easy and simple. All classes include hands-on work, lecture and an opportunity for Q&A. Choose from one of our current classes:

Photo Basics 1: Get Off of “Auto” & Learn Your Camera’s Controls

Topics Covered:
• Aperture
• Shutter Speed
• ISO
• Depth of Field
• White Balance
• Focusing Points
• Focusing Modes: One Shot, AI Servo, AI Focus
• Metering Modes: Evaluative, Center Weighted, Spot
• Modes: Manual, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, Program, Bulb
• Exposure Compensation
• Reading the Histogram
• File Types: RAW vs JPG
• Color Space
• Cleaning the Sensor
• Formatting Flash Cards

Requirements:
- 35 mm digital camera, or a Point & Shoot with manual capabilities
- Owner’s manual

Duration: 3 hours

Fee: $299 per person

Class Size: Limit 8 students, or individually by appointment.

What to Bring:
- Camera, lenses, compact flash card reader, camera owner’s manual, notebook, pen. A laptop or tablet is optional.

Photo Basics 2: Time to Get Creative

Topics Covered:
• Composition – Leading Lines, Rule of Thirds, Using Color/Texture/Patterns
• Natural Light vs Artificial/Supplemental Light
• Camera Body Options – pro vs. consumer, full frame vs. cropped sensor
• Lenses – best options for landscape, portrait, kids, events, product, macro, travel
• Flashes & Strobes – why you need supplemental light, and how to use it.
• Light Modifiers – diffusers, reflectors, soft boxes, umbrellas
• Accessories – straps, bags, flash card holders, and other fun gadgets

Requirements:
- 35 mm digital camera, or a Point & Shoot with manual capabilities
- Owner’s manual
- Students MUST have a solid understanding of their basic camera controls and fundamentals of photography – OR- Completion of Photo Basics 1.

Duration: 3 hours

Fee: $299 per person

Class Size: Limit 8 students, or individually by appointment.

What to Bring:
- Camera, lenses, flashes, compact flash card reader, camera owner’s manual, notebook, pen. A laptop or tablet is optional.


Photo Basics 3: Post Production, a.k.a. Now What Do I Do with all of These Photos?

Topics Covered:
• Downloading Images
• Compact Flash Cards & Readers
• Where to store the photos
• How & Why to Back Up
• Best Options for Long and Short Term Storage
• Flash Cards, DVD, Jump Drives, External Hard Drives, and the “Cloud”
• Color space- which to use for photographing, web and print
• Lightroom Library Module
• Lightroom Develop Module
• How to make Slideshows
• Watermarks – How to add them, and Why you need them
• Metadata – Name, Contact Information, Copyright, Keywords, Description, etc.
• Saving/Exporting for web
• Saving/Exporting for print

Requirements:
- 35 mm digital camera, or a Point & Shoot with manual capabilities
- Owner’s manual
- Students MUST have a solid understanding of their basic camera controls and fundamentals of photography – OR- Completion of Photo Basics 1.
- Laptop computer with Lightroom 3 or higher installed.

Duration: 3 hours

Fee: $299 per person

Class Size: Limit 8 students, or individually by appointment.

What to Bring:
- Camera, lenses, compact flash card reader, camera owner’s manual, notebook, pen, a laptop with Lightroom installed. Optional: external hard drives, jump drive.


Customized Instruction & Portfolio Review:

Curriculum will be customized to the student’s specific questions, areas of interest and areas where they want to improve. Training also includes the option to review the student’s previous photographic work to provide professional feedback and direction.
Length:  2 – 3 hours
Fee: Begins at $199
