Simply said, I love photography. It has the power to move people in a way that words can not.
I treat each wedding as if it were my own. I spend copious amounts of time planning and preparing. I get pre-wedding jitters, just like you. I’m overwhelmed with the joy of the first kiss. I get nostalgic when the bride and her father dance. I get down and boogie with the guests on the dance floor. And, (yes, I’ll admit it), I even cry as I edit the photos from each wedding. These images….YOUR images…are that beautiful. And it is this emotion that I strive to evoke in individuals when they see my work.
As the daughter of a photographer, I was fascinated early on with the possibilities this little machine could hold. I often daydreamed that my eyes were a camera lens, capturing people and places in their truest sense without them ever knowing. Today, this is still true. I seek images that move people, those that capture the essence of what I am photographing. I always try to find new ways of seeing a scene differently, while still letting each individual’s personality shine through.
My style of photography draws upon my experience as a newspaper photojournalist. My wedding work has been referred to as “artistic”, “photojournalistic” and “candid”. My presence is friendly and unobtrusive, as I believe in letting the day unfold naturally. I prefer to document moments in a hands-off manner, as I believe people are their most beautiful and interesting when they are completely comfortable and able to be themselves. Most importantly, I believe in having fun, and lots of it!
While I started photographing at the tender age of 10, I have been working professionally since 2000. My background is as diverse as the people I’ve come to photograph, and includes photojournalism, commercial work, portraiture, fine art and travel photography. Weddings, however, are my first love…people are my passion!
I take on only a limited number of clients each year to ensure that each one is truly special. This allows me more time to become acquainted with my clients, understand their needs, and come away with a sense of their personality. I give my clients my full and undivided attention, thereby creating photos that reflect their personality in a way that is unique to them.
I have been extremely fortunate to have received national recognition for my work (please see my Press and Accolades page for more information). I couldn’t have done it without my wonderful clients, all of whom remain a source of joy and creativity to me each day. Thank you for allowing me to document your lives, and to many of you who have become close friends along the way.
