Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, recently appeared at the San Francisco Food Bank. I was asked to cover this event by a local community newspaper, the Potrero View. Speaker Pelosi received a tour of the Food Bank’s warehouse, proceeded to help volunteers from a local elementary school package food, and then ended her visit with a press conference where she discussed the 150,000 residents in San Francisco at risk of hunger each year.

OUT Magazine recently asked me to photograph a benefit event they were holding for the AIDS Memorial Grove. The event was held at/co-sponsored by the luxury retailer, Burberry, in San Francisco’s Union Square. OUT Magazine is a gay and lesbian magazine with a perspective on style, entertainment, fashion, the arts, politics, culture, and the world at large. The AIDS Memorial Grove is dedicated to the creation and long-term maintenance of the first living memorial to those lost to AIDS and in support of those living with HIV. A portion of the sales from this evening’s charity event were donated to the AIDS Memorial Grove. The event was VIP, invite only, and was well attended by many of San Francisco’s most hip and well heeled . The evening’s festivities were held on 3 floors of Burberry’s Union Square store, and offered a live DJ, complimentary cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, stunning models wearing Burberry’s latest fashions, and fantastic shopping all night long. I recently had the pleasure to attend Global Green’s 6th Annual Gorgeous and Green Benefit Gala at the W Hotel in San Francisco.

The star-studded Gorgeous & Green Gala featured a fabulous vintage and eco-fashion show, a glamorous green cocktail party, beautiful Mad Men-inspired decor, eco-friendly cocktails by 360 vodka, wines by eco.love, beats by DJ Donovan, living walls by Design Ecology, top sustainable companies, celebrity guests, and more.

Global Green’s Annual Gorgeous and Green Gala is one of the Bay Area’s premier green lifestyle events. This event has done much to expand the perception of what it means to be truly sustainable without sacrificing style. Gorgeous & Green benefits Global Green’s initiatives to create green schools and green affordable housing in the Bay Area and nationwide.

I recently had the opportunity to photograph actress Bo Derek (of film “10″ fame). She was in San Francisco working with politicians and members of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) on international animal conservation issues, specifically wild tigers in India and China.

For more than 45 years, WWF has been protecting the future of nature. The largest multinational conservation organization in the world, WWF works in 100 countries and is supported by 1.2 million members in the United States and close to 5 million globally. WWF’s unique way of working combines global reach with a foundation in science, involves action at every level from local to global, and ensures the delivery of innovative solutions that meet the needs of both people and nature.
