I’ve gotten the travel bug lately, and so have taken the opportunity whenever possible to travel, combining both work and leisure! Alaska is just simply stunning with its incredibly pure beauty, Mexico was relaxing with its white sand beaches and turquoise water (and impromptu wedding in Puerto Morelos!), and New Orleans just completely impressed me with its vibrant color and charming people.

Cozumel: (I highly recommend snorkeling here!)

Destruction of houses post-hurricane Katrina. Note the spray paint on the buildings, which let FEMA search and rescue workers know if anyone was in the building (dead or alive), as well as the trailers in most people’s front yards. Over 3 years later, and it looks like Katrina just hit yesterday, as the government has done very little to help families rebuild. This trip was truly enlightening and humbling. My heart goes out to the people of New Orleans.

Notice the picnic table on TOP of the house.

Notice the water line on the house, right in the middle of the front door and 1st floor windows.

One of the few places left un-touched by the hurricane - an old plantation.
