Bristol native Roni Size is one of the UK jungle scene’s most respected names, with production credits spanning dozens of labels, projects and releases. Size’s influence as a producer, label owner, and committed underground magnate figured him as one of the emerging sound’s true pioneers. The breakout success of his debut album with Reprazent, New Forms (which also featured Dynamite MC) finally confirmed his stature and vaulted him to a greater degree of popularity than any drum’n'bass producer.

Born to Jamaican immigrant parents, Roni grew up in the Bristolean suburb of St. Andrews (home to Tricky, Massive Attack, and Smith & Mighty), where he learned the fundamentals of hip-hop through the area’s sounds systems, house parties, and underground clubs. Expelled from school Size started dabbling with house and reggae production in the late’80s. He hooked up with labelmates DJ Krust, Suv, and DJ Die at the 1990 Glastonbury Festival, and the four stayed in contact, eventually forming the seminal Full Cycle label. Even though his place in drum and bass history has been firmly cemented, he shows no signs of slowing down, with current releases on Hospital Record and V Recordings.

Like many other bands in the ska revival movement, The Selecter featured a racially diverse line-up. Their lyrics featured themes connected to politicsand a positive message of multicultural inclusivity, set to strong melodies and a danceable beat. What set The Selecter apart from the other 2 Tone bands at the time, were the songs of Neol Davies, the voice and unique rude-girl style of Pauline Black, and the pumping rhythms of Desmond Brown on the Hammond organ. The band’s name is based on the term “selector”, which is a Jamaican word for disc jockey. The band were one of the most successful ska bands of the 2 Tone era, notching up a handful of hit singles in the British charts.

I had known Kirk for a couple of years when I asked him to come over help lay flooring in my basement. I didn’t think that he was going to show up, but he did! Obviously my sweats and bedhead hair didn’t scare him off. We lived in different provinces at the time and spent the next few months helping each other with home renovation projects while getting to know each other better. After a few months, we decided to give this long distance friendship a chance. I am so glad we did. I can’t imagine my life without him. He is the best thing that has ever happened to me! He is the nicest person I have ever known. I am so lucky to have found him. San Francisco was on my list of places to go and I thought what better way to thank him for allowing me to be part of his life than to get married in the city of his all time favorite football team….the 49ers! What a week – a wedding and 2 football games!

Kirk on Donna:
Our story started with home renovations in Donna’s basement. One of the jobs that we were doing in the basement was putting trim in a room. Something that stood out for me was Donna’s patience. We spent lots of time flipping boards over to determine the proper cuts and often times we would look at each other and say ”is this right”? I remember the fun and laughs we had. When I think of Donna, I think of a wonderful person who offers so much. Donna has a huge heart and puts other’s needs ahead of hers. She is truly an amazing person who gives 150% at everything she does. I am lucky to have such a great person in my life who is my soul mate. We got married in San Francisco and what was an amazing trip for so many reasons. It certainly was a great way to start our marriage and begin our life together. Thank you Donna for being a part of my life and bringing me so much joy.

I am the luckiest woman in my world! On September 13th, 2012 I got to marry my best friend, soulmate and lover. From the moment I met Wil, I knew this was going to be special. How could I resist this guy? Tall, dark and handsome. Laughter and smiles always came so easy. And then I found out he was a season ticket holder for the SF Giants games! Wow! Our first official date was to Pac Bell Park. It was wonderful. And now 8 years later, I am Mrs. Durden and we are still going to see the Giants play!

Wil on Nancy:
When I met Nancy for the first time I knew she would be with me forever. Funny thing, she didn’t think I liked her at all. Yes, I was rusty. On our first date, a baseball game with her son John, I forgot my wallet. Oh, no. But I had 4th row 1st base side tickets! We haven’t been apart since. Nancy has exceeded my expectations as my lover, my friend and my lifelong companion. She’s brought so much laughter and joy to my life. Plus, my family loves her as much as I do. Her family is a joy to me as well. I guess I hit a grand slam!!

This will be Nat and I’s second go around and for many reasons we are excited to put the final cap on our reunion and tie the knot. We have been back together for a few years, and in many ways, mostly due to our tremendous love for our kiddos, never really completely let go. Natalie is an incredible mom, and I am excited to show her and our kids and whoever else is looking how much she means to me. This wedding reminds us what is important in our life. We learned the hard way what can happen when that is neglected. As a parent you do the best you can to set a good example for your children, and I want them to be able to look at them and remember the day, and even the circumstances around it.

Natalie on DJ:
I am not as well spoken as D.J., and I struggle with coming up with the right words to describe how important and meaningful this second chance is for me!! I am so grateful for D.J.’s love and that he, too, like me, always kept a special place in his heart for our love, even through incredibly hard lessons that you would never wish upon any family!!! Through our time apart and some major challenges in my life, DJ taught me the importance of commitment, integrity, and what it looks and feels like to work through the hard times. Our love for each other now is filled with so much more respect and faith in each other. Deej is the most honest, trustworthy, and respectable man I have ever met. He has incredible integrity and a heart full of love! I feel so blessed that he chose me to share his love with and that our children see that love every day!
