Alice and Stan are such a cute couple. Both originally hail from Russia, but now call San Francisco home. Alice and Stan are actually having 3 wedding ceremonies, with the first marriage ceremony held at San Francisco City Hall. By the time they have their big ceremony in Thailand next fall, this couple will have those wedding day nerves completely in check! Practice makes perfect

I had so much fun working with this couple. They were incredibly cute, really easy going, and completely open to my suggestions. I particularly like the images that capture the way they look at each other….such sweetness in their eyes! Oh, and be sure to check out the incredible blue color of Alice’s eyes. WOW! Who needs Photoshop when you’ve got knock out features like that? Lucky girl!

The best part about working with Alice and Stan was how nice they were. They even brought us healthy snacks for the car ride to Cafe Volare in North Beach and the Golden Gate Bridge near Baker Beach. Thanks for driving Stan! I hope you two had a wonderful night out after the ceremony.

Now, I know I say this a lot about my clients……but, Nicole and Johnathan were so incredible to work with. This couple was not only cute and stylish, but they were so laid back, funny, and willing to have a great time. Now, that’s my kind of couple!

I can’t say enough how much fun I had with these two. They had constant smiles on their faces, and when they weren’t smiling, they were smooching or making goofy faces at each other. I LOVE IT!

They came all the way from Texas to get hitched in San Francisco’s gorgeous City Hall. They’ve been to the City several times before and fell in love with it (can you blame them?).

After some fun shots at City Hall, we hopped in their limo and headed for Alamo Square for some quick shots in front of the famous Painted Ladies Victorian houses.

The only bad thing about this wedding was that it didn’t last nearly long enough! Honestly, I could have hung out with this great couple and their family all day.

Rianne and Scott are such a cute couple! They hired me to photograph their wedding at San Francisco City Hall just a few days before Christmas (on the Winter Solstice!). Rianne is absolutely gorgeous and has a smile that’s infectious. Scott was also a lot of fun, and had a gentle and easy going manner about him that was really sweet. It was easy to see how these two made such a great pair! I had a blast photographing their wedding. Frank and Linda are a great couple! Frank is from England and Linda’s family is from Taiwan. They had a small wedding ceremony at San Francisco City Hall, with 10 of their closest family members. Everyone flew in from afar for this special day…..England, Taiwan, and Portland, Oregon. I was especially honored to photograph this wedding, knowing that Linda’s parents in Taiwan were not able to make the journey, and would be relying solely on these wedding photos as their memories.

Linda is a really interesting woman….while soft in her manner, she speaks volumes with her creative talent. Not only is she a well respected and established painter, but she also HAND MADE her own wedding dress! Now, that’s some skill!

Everyone had a great time….and even the weather of San Francisco shined on us this day. Literally! The sun was out, not a cloud or fog in the sky. To top it off, Frank and Linda rented a vintage cable car to take their wedding guests on a tour of San Francisco. After leaving San Francisco City Hall, we visited Crissy Field, Fort Point, the Palace of Fine Arts and the Embarcadero for some fun wedding photos before finally arriving at Il Forniao restaurant.

This wedding at San Francisco City Hall was SO much fun! Danny and Rob were really easy to work with, and didn’t mind my tendencies for shooting details, weird angles, short depth of field, and candids. Oh, and laying on the ground. Yeah, I do lots of that during weddings! In fact, both being creative types themselves, they actually encouraged it. Now, these are my kinds of clients!

Danny and Rob were very open, nice and fun to be around. My only complaint was that the ceremony, and my time with them, was just too short!! I would have loved to had the honor to document them at a full day wedding. Their smiles, sense of style, humor and down right cute-ness made me sad to leave! Special thanks to my assistant Mischa, who brought his great energy and lent his steady hand to get some great shots looking down from the 4th floor!

Even though San Francisco has less than a million inhabitants, it has one of the biggest and most beautiful city halls in the US, with a dome taller than that of the Capitol in Washington DC. San Francisco City Hall, which opened in 1916 after the old City Hall was destroyed in the 1906 earthquake, is one of the best examples of Beaux Arts architecture in the world, and it is considered to have one of the most important interior spaces in the United States.

The exterior of City Hall is made of granite from the foothills of the Sierra. The interior is lavishly finished in California marble, Indiana sandstone and Manchurian oak. Two large open light courts, covered with glass ceilings, are situated on either side of the rotunda. The northern court houses a cafe for visitors and city workers and space for public events. The southern courtyard is home to San Francisco history exhibits.

The dome of San Francisco City Hall is the fifth largest in the world. It was originally covered with gold leaf gilded copper. Since the gilding was applied incorrectly, the copper eventually took on its familiar green patina. Today’s restored finish is gold leaf on a special paint.

The City Hall’s ground floor houses state of the art broadcast studios. On the first floor incorporates the great rotunda and the two light courts, while the second floor includes the Mayor’s office, supervisors’ chambers and committee meeting rooms. The third floor is used for bigger press conferences and receptions.

San Francisco’s National Landmark had to go through a four-year earthquake modernization project after the earthquake in 1989. The $300 million project was designed to preserve the historic nature of the building, while preventing earthquake damage in the future. Therefore San Francisco City Hall may be the biggest building in the world that is actually not attached to the ground. The modernization project included separating the structure from its original foundations and leaving it to rest on top of 600 base isolators made of rubber and stainless steel. When the next big quake hits, the isolators will dissipate the tremor’s shock waves before they can damage the building and its dome.

In 1978 a tragic event took place in City Hall when former city supervisor Dan White assassinated Mayor Moscone and city supervisor Harvey Milk. Harvey Milk was the first openly gay elected official in San Francisco and much has been written about the importance of his election and his death. Many people have been married at San Francisco City Hall. One of the most famous marriages was the one between Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe in 1954. In early 2004, queues of gay and lesbian couples formed outside the City Hall, after Mayor Gavin Newsom allowed same-sex couples to be married by city officials.

San Francisco City Hall is a beautiful place to get married, and just lends itself to wonderful wedding photos. This wedding features Lee and Conor, a fabulous couple from Chicago who found me on Angie’s List.

Lee and Conor decided to run off to San Francisco to get hitched, and planned to surprise their families with their nuptials once they returned to Chicago. Now, Lee and Conor have been together for about 10 years, so their wedding wasn’t exactly unexpected. But, running off to San Francisco to get hitched was!

I love it when couples have such enthusiasm and spontaneity! To make things even more fun, Lee and Conor asked me to come hang out with them the day before while they took a tour of Anchorsteam Brewery. Heck Ya! It was a great way to get acquainted before the “big day”.

Anchorsteam (aka Anchor Brewing Company) is a great local brewery that I just absolutely love. They produce wonderful beer (and wine!) and offer free weekly tours and beer tastings! I’d already been on a tour here, and so was excited for another with Lee and Conor!
