These shots were taken on assignment for an article about local businesses. Georgia, the owner of 3rd Street Pilates, was great to work with, as was her assistant. The benefits of pilates are obvious….just look at Georgia who has been practicing for 15 years!

OUT Magazine recently asked me to photograph a benefit event they were holding for the AIDS Memorial Grove. The event was held at/co-sponsored by the luxury retailer, Burberry, in San Francisco’s Union Square. OUT Magazine is a gay and lesbian magazine with a perspective on style, entertainment, fashion, the arts, politics, culture, and the world at large. The AIDS Memorial Grove is dedicated to the creation and long-term maintenance of the first living memorial to those lost to AIDS and in support of those living with HIV. A portion of the sales from this evening’s charity event were donated to the AIDS Memorial Grove. The event was VIP, invite only, and was well attended by many of San Francisco’s most hip and well heeled . The evening’s festivities were held on 3 floors of Burberry’s Union Square store, and offered a live DJ, complimentary cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, stunning models wearing Burberry’s latest fashions, and fantastic shopping all night long. I had such a great time photographing this luxury event! Here are a few of my favorite photos from the night:

Founded in 1971 by choreographer Brenda Way and based in San Francisco for over 30 years, ODC Dance Commons is made up of many parts:

• ODC/Dance – an internationally known professional dance company
• ODC Theater – a venue supporting artists and their work from creation to presentation
• ODC School/Rhythm and Motion – a training center for professional & recreational dancers of all ages
• ODC Dance Jam – a children’s/youth performing company
• ODC’s Educational Outreach Program – an effort to bring creativity to new audiences

ODC includes a 10,000 sq-ft space, the ODC Theater at 17th and Shotwell, and the new ODC Dance Commons, a 23,000 sq-ft building located at 351 Shotwell St. (between 17th and 18th streets) – just down the block.

ODC features an excellent professional faculty of dancers and musicians. Professional track training is offered along with recreational dance classes. Dancers at the ODC Dance Commons enjoy direct connections to resident professional companies including ODC/Dance, Janice Garrett and Dancers, Robert Moses Kin, and to a diverse range of performing artists of all kinds. ODC has a total of seven fully-equipped studios, a “Healthy Dancers” Clinic, a community lounge, a Pilates center, gallery spaces, locker rooms, showers, and more.

The Graphic Arts Workshop is a cooperative of approximately 40 artists who work primarily in traditional printmaking techniques. The Workshop is a non-profit, mutual benefit corporation. The Graphic Arts Workshop was founded by faculty from the California Labor School in 1952. Their societal concerns were reflected in each artist’s style of work and in the co-operative form of the Workshop. In addition to fulfilling the mission that the GAW pursues today, members in the early years printed posters, leaflets, and pamphlets in support of peace and civil rights issues. During the Sixties, the GAW lent space for anti-Vietnam War activities.

Over the years, the GAW membership has included many distinguished artists, undertaken national and international art exchanges, and hosted traveling exhibits.
